Cranbourne club implements Adopt a Roadside program

The Lions Club of Cranbourne has finalised arrangements with Keep Victoria Beautiful and VicRoads to implement the Adopt a Roadside program in Cranbourne. The club has nominated a section of Cranbourne - Narre Warren road between Thompson road and Sladen street. As part of this project, members will regularly clean up roadside litter and provide feedback to Council and VicRoads on any works that may be required by them. Not only will this project provide real benefit to the community but it will also increase the profile of the club in the local area. The presence of the club will be obvious with permanent signs to be erected at each end of the section of road. The club's recent addition of a Toyota van which will soon be brightly sign written with the club mascot, Roary the Lion, will further increase visibility in the community.

  • Eradicating measles just makes sense

Lions International through the network of clubs worldwide has been striving to eradicate measles. Measles is more than just a few spots and feeling is a killer and there could be no better cause than ridding the world of this terrible disease that still ruins the life of millions of people. Please see the attached letter from LCIF and dig deep to support this initiative.

Junior Public Speaking is a HUGE HIT

The recent Junior public speaking event proved to be a great success with entrants, parents, club members and judges each benefiting from the collective efforts of all of the young people who participated. Congratulations to all of the entrants and a big thank you to all involved. Providing young people with the opportunity to learn a new skill, grow in confidence and take part in a community activity is a real Lions thing to do.

Following is some very positive feedback from the parents of Mitchell Kidd, an enthusiastic entrant and eventual winner. Well done to Mitchell and thank you to Steve and Lisa for the feedback.

    "Dear Ron,

We would just like to thank yourself and the Lions Club for running the fantastic public speaking competition for primary aged students. Our son, Mitchell Kidd, participated and eventually won the event. The experience and confidence Mitchell gained from the experience was invaluable. Mitchell learnt how to talk in an engaging and entertaining manner, he also learnt to relax and enjoy himself as well as respecting other participates. The guidance, positivity and patience of members of the Lions Club was truely amazing. Not only did Mitchell have a great time throughout but the family was able to enjoy some lifelong memorable and proud moments. All members were very hospitable and a pleasure to be around. Once again thank you and keep up the great work.

    Kind Regards

    Steve and Lisa Kidd."
